イギリスを拠点に、Society-Driven Design（社会駆動型デザイン）の第一人者として活動するジュダ・アルマーニ氏が来日致します。来日を記念したJam Session / Inspirational Talkを開催致します。　

ジュダ・アルマーニ氏は、社会へのポジティブなインパクトを生み出すデザイナーであり教育者です。刑事司法システムやホームレスの人々の問題など、社会で抑圧された立場にいる人々へデザインを通じた介入を行っています。

手掛けるプログラムの1つであるInHouse Records（インハウス・レコーズ）は、受刑者のリハビリテーションを目的とした音楽レーベルです。音楽を通じ、心の中を表現する機会や出所後の社会における居場所の創出を通じ、受刑者の再犯を激減させた取り組みとして注目を集めています。

ジュダ・アルマーニ氏は英Royal College of ArtのMA Service DesignでHead of Social Impact Labを務めるほか、英UAL Central Saint Martins校上級研究員、米Rhode Island School of Design Center for Complexity客員研究員、そして武蔵野美術大学の訪問教授を務めています。2022年には、英国のデザイン教育に最も革新を起こした人物へ贈られるサー・ミシャ・ブラック賞を受賞しました。

今回のJam Session/Inspirational Talkでは、ジュダ・アルマーニ氏のデザイン哲学、手掛けるプロジェクトをテーマにした講演、トークセッションや皆さまとの懇親を行います。

ジュダ・アルマーニ

社会に対するポジティブなインパクトを生み出すデザイナー。ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートのサービスデザイン修士課程でアソシエイトとして勤務し、ソーシャル・インパクト・チャレンジ・ラボを率いる。また、セントラル・セント・マーチンズのカレッジ・オブ・アート・アンド・デザインの上級研究員、ロードアイランド・スクール・オブ・デザインのセンター・フォー・コンプレクシティの客員研究員。イギリス・ブライトンのコミュニティ・スタジオ「パブリック・デザイン」を拠点に、地元の慈善活動を無償で支援するほか、世界的に高い評価を得ているブライトン・フェスティバル＆ドームやヘルプ・ミュージシャンUKの評議員を務める。

We are pleased to announce the visit of Judah Armani, a leading figure in Society-Driven Design, based in the UK. To commemorate his visit to Japan, Musashino Art University (MAU) will host a special Jam Session and Inspirational Talk.

Judah Armani is a renowned designer and educator dedicated to creating positive social impact. He specializes in design intervention for marginalized individuals in society, addressing issues such as the criminal justice system and homelessness.

One of his signature programs is InHouse Records, a music label aimed at the rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals. The program has garnered significant attention for drastically reducing recidivism by providing participants with an opportunity to express themselves through music and establishing a sense of place in society upon release.

Mr. Armani holds several distinguished academic positions: he is the Head of the Social Impact Lab for the MA Service Design program at the Royal College of Art (UK), a Senior Research Fellow at UAL Central Saint Martins (UK), a Visiting Fellow at the Rhode Island School of Design Center for Complexity (US), and a Visiting Professor at Musashino Art University (Japan). In 2022, he was honored with the Sir Misha Black Award for innovation in design education in the UK.

This Jam Session/Inspirational Talk will feature Professor Armani’s design philosophy, a lecture on his projects, a panel discussion, and a networking session with participants.

This session involves presentations on Mr. Armani’s initiatives and topics proposed by the participants, followed by an informal networking reception.

Speaker Profile

Judah Armani

His award winning practice enjoys an internationally recognised track record of creating positive impact in society since 2009 and have been B Corp certified since 2013.He holds an associate position at The Royal College of Art, within the MA Service Design department, heading up the Social Impact Challenge Lab. He is a senior researcher at Central St Martin’s College of Art & Design within the Design Against Crime Team and a visiting fellow at the Rhode Island School of Design’s Center for Complexity. He is the social designer in residence at InnovationRCA.

He is headquartered in Brighton, at “Public Design”, my community studios, where He provides pro bono support to local charitable initiatives and serves on the board of trustees for the globally acclaimed Brighton Festival & Dome & Help Musician UK.
